About the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme

At Wotton House International School, we are proud to be only one of 15 schools granted authorisation to teach the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), a highly respected, internationally recognised education programme for children from ages 11-16. It leads naturally to the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career Programmes for university applications around the world.

Only schools authorised by the International Baccalaureate (IB) organisation can offer any of its three programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Career-related Certificate.

Like our students, our school is on a journey too, through a changing educational landscape which moves to match societal change and in which teaching methods are coming under constant scrutiny. So we offer a choice of assessment pathways, including the externally verified International GCSE qualifications.

Cambridge IGCSE International General Certificate of Secondary Education

The International Baccalaureate Organisation ensures that the curriculum offered by MYP schools is varied and stimulating, with a rich breadth and depth.

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) does the following:

  • promotes integrated conceptual understanding as well as a deep subject knowledge

  • teaches the research skills necessary for future study

  • its interdisciplinary approach means students acquire a genuine understanding of the links between subjects

  • students learn to work independently in preparation for university

  • it is designed to help children gain a sense of their place in the world and the local community.
